Not to worry on border tension

Hun Sen tells people not to worry on border tension with Thailand

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said Wednesday that there is nothing to worry about the border dispute with Thailand.

While presenting certificates to university students, Hun Sen said military leaders from both sides have already met and talked and thus nothing to worry about the situation along the border.

Hun Sen made the remarks following media reports that Thailand' s reinforcement were dispatched to the border area near Cambodia' s Preah Vihear temple in the past few days.

While assuring the situation along the border is calm, Hun Sen said his country is firm to protect the border from any intrusion into Cambodia's territory.

Cambodia presented its progress report on the conservation and management plan of the Preah Vihear Temple to UNESCO's committee for World Heritage during annual meeting in Brazil, but that was opposed by Thailand, saying that should be done only after the border issues between the two nations have been solved.

However, UNESCO accepted the report but suggested it to be examined next year in Bahrain.

The border conflict came just one week after Cambodia's Preah Vihear Temple was registered as World Heritage Site in July 2008.
